Hi, my name is Meagan Kennedy.
I have been a Registered Practical Nurse for the past three years. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) to expand further my knowledge, skills, and understanding within the nursing profession.
Nursing has always been a passion of mine. My inspiration to enter the field of nursing began at a very young age, when my father was first diagnosed with cancer. During that time, my family and I spent hours in the hospital, where I witnessed the compassion, dedication, and skill of the nurses who cared for him. Their ability to provide empathy and comfort while connecting with both patients and families during their most difficult times motivated me to follow in their footsteps and dedicate myself to helping others.
I have gained valuable experience working in various healthcare settings, particularly at St. Michael's Hospital as a float nurse, providing care across a variety of units and clinical settings. This role has strengthened my adaptability, clinical judgement, and ability to collaborate effectively within diverse healthcare settings. It has also deepened my understanding of patient-centred care and the importance of empathy, communication, and critical thinking in fast-paced environments.
My long-term goal after attaining my RN is to become a travel nurse, providing care to countries and communities in need. I aspire to use my skills and experience to promote global health and support vulnerable populations. Nursing embodies universal values of compassion, connection, and healing, and I am committed to continuous learning and professional growth as I pursue becoming a Registered Nurse.
"As a Nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the mind, soul, heart, and body of our patients, their families, and ourselves. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel."
