Professional Developmental Plan 

 

Immediate Goal Planning: 

Goal 1: Graduate from the RPN to BScN Postgraduate Bridging Program 

Plan: 

  • Develop time management and self-directed learning strategies to prepare for the BScN program. 
  • Attend all classes and actively participate in discussions, labs, and simulations to deepen understanding. 
  • Complete all assignments and exams with at least an 80% average while actively seeking feedback to improve performance. 

 

Goal 2: Apply to and Complete the Trent University BScN Program (2 years)

Plan: 

  • Successfully complete the 2-semester bridging program with no dropouts and maintain at least an 80% average. 
  • Apply to the Trent BScN program by February 2026. 
  • Explore extracurricular opportunities, such as research or volunteer experiences, to enhance the application profile. 

 

Goal 3: Gain at least 2 years of expertise in Emergency and Critical Care units as an RN

Plan: 

  • Work full-time in ER and critical care units (ICU, step-down, or specialty care) to develop further advanced patient care skills. 
  • Gain experience managing high-acuity and complex cases to strengthen critical thinking and clinical decision-making. 
  • Seek mentorship and professional guidance to refine expertise and secure letters of recommendation for future opportunities. 

 

Long-Term Goal Planning 

Goal 1: Apply to Aya Healthcare Travel Nursing Agency 

Plan: 

  • Gain at least 2 years of experience in critical care (ICU, ER, NICU) to develop additional clinical skills to meet program prerequisites. 
  • Obtain relevant certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) to strengthen qualifications for travel nursing positions. 
  • Secure letters of recommendation from managers or educators to support travel nurse applications. 
  • Apply to Aya Healthcare Travel Nursing Agency by 2030.

 

Goal 2: Obtain a Master's in Nursing - Combined MN/Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (PHCNP) Certificate at Western University 

Plan: 

  • Gain at least 2 years of experience in critical care (ICU, ER, NICU) to develop additional clinical skills to meet program prerequisites. 
  • Engage in professional development opportunities in Acute Pain Services, Community Clinics, or Hospitals to gather further clinical knowledge and specialized skills. 
  • Apply to the MN/PHCNP program at Western University by 2035.
