Philosophy of Nursing
I am committed to delivering holistic, patient-centred care that respects each person's individuality and promotes well-being.
My philosophy of nursing is rooted in the principle of caring, as Jane Watson describes it, the moral and ethical foundation of nursing. I believe that the person will always be the centre of care, and that every individual deserves holistic, individualized support that respects their rights, autonomy, personal preferences, and cultural values. Each person is unique, with their own physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs, and it is my responsibility to provide care that honours the whole individual. Through patient education, respect, trust, and collaboration within the interdisciplinary team, I empower patients to participate actively in their own health journey.
Health is a dynamic and ever-changing state influenced by internal and external factors, reflecting balance in physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being. As a nurse, my role is to enhance patient well-being by promoting health, preventing illness, and supporting patients through education, advocacy, and evidence-based care.
The environment encompasses internal and external elements that affect an individual's health, well-being, and recovery. This may include the physical setting itself, emotional environment, cultural influences, or social connections. I strive to create safe, inclusive, and healing spaces that strengthen quality of life.
Nursing requires knowledge, skill, critical thinking, and compassion to meet the evolving needs of diverse individuals. My nursing philosophy enhances my practice as I work to provide patient-centred care that improves well-being and promotes quality of life across all healthcare settings, reflecting my commitment to professional growth in healthcare.
